71% of iDevices upgraded to IOS7
[caption id="" align=“alignnone” width=“961”]Mixpanel IOS7 adoption chart [/caption] After about 30 days of availability, Apple's IOS7 is on 71,75% of all iDevices according to Mixpanel. IOS6 has 24.83% of the base and earlier versions only account for ~3%. IOS7 has been the fastest adopted IOS upgrade to date and its a clear win for Apple because it minimizes OS fragmentation making app development and support easier. This may be why Google keep numbering its OS upgrades as minor .x upgrades (trying to bring everyone to version 4).
Safari provides best mobile browsing experience
Fixya just released an interesting report about mobile browsing experience and declared Safari the big winner. The Fixya team combed through 60,000 help requests for mobile web browsers and found that Apple's Safari mobile is the "most usable web browser". In second place came Chrome found in stock Android. Some of the positive characteristics of Safari mobile, as highlighted by Fixya, were: simple user interface ability to perform multiple actions with a specific webpage (adding bookmark, adding to home-screen, mailing the link, sharing the link, printing the page, etc) the powerful reading list feature built into the browser.
MotoX coming to FIDO soon
Although the MotoX wasn't the superphone we were all expecting (based on the rumors), it turned out to be a very solid phone that most users are extremely happy with. It is the always listening Android phone that is ready to respond to your every [voice] command without you every having to touch the actual device. Rogers has been the exclusive home of the MotoX in Canada but now we get this tweet from Fido.
Rogers has the fastest mobile network in Canada
The PCMag team visited all corners of our great country to determine who has the fastest network. After all the testing and analysis, it turns out the Canadian king of speed is none other than Rogers. You can read their full article here. As you intuitively realize, not all networks perform the same in all markets but overall the editors of PCMag determined that Rogers provided the fastest overall connectivity on the 2600Mhz LTE band. Big Red was followed closely by Bell and Telus.
How to watch Google Play Movies on IOS
If you are an Apple only smartphone (or tablet) user then you likely buy your movie content straight from the king himself but there may be times when the content is only available on Google Play Movies or that it is simply cheaper there, Would you be surprised to learn that you can play Google Play Movies on IOS with the original Google Youtube app? First caveat is that you can only stream content using this mechanism (aka you won't be able to download the content and play it while offline).
Apple event confirmed for October 22
[caption id="" align=“alignnone” width=“640”]Apple October Event Invitation [/caption] We have been expecting it and now Apple has confirmed that it will hold another launch event on October 22 at the Yerba Buena center in San Francisco. Apple will be holding a simultaneous even in London (a live stream of the event plus a test area for whatever is announced). What are we expecting? We expect to see a new very slim and light iPad. I expect a colorful but non-Retina iPad mini, the launch of the Mac Pro and maybe a quick shout out to OS X Mavericks,

Nokia 1020 camera beats Galaxy S4 which beats the iPhone 5s
Blind #camera comparison by @phonearena - See the results: http://t.co/V2ooBylerf #Lumia1020 pic.twitter.com/CWRVqHRT6F — Nokia (@nokia) October 10, 2013 PhoneArena conducted an interested blind photo test to determine which camera produced the best most pleasing pictures. By removing brand bias, they wanted to see which device the public would chose rather than just voting as a fanboy for their preferred device. Nokia based on Windows Phone may not offer all the comforts of the other established ecosystems but that incredible PureView 41MP camera blew its competitors away.

Bacon is a wonder ingredient and it makes everything better. You can eat bacon, sprinkle bacon, drink bacon or smell like bacon... Now you can even wash with bacon/ This soap is made with natural vegan ingredients such as coconut oil, avocado oil, castor oil and olive oil. Rogers & Fido credits customer for outage
[caption id="" align=“alignnone” width=“778”]Canadian Outages Map [/caption] Rogers and Fido have issued a press release notifying Canadians that their network woes are now in the past and the Rogers CEO classified the outage as unacceptable. Some of my readers and twitter followers started messaging me around 1800ET asking if my Rogers/Fido voice service was working. It started as an intermittent outage in Quebec and Ontario then became a national solid outage. It was fun reading the twitter complaints using the #RogersOutage hashtag.
KnowRomaing cuts mobile costs when travelling
As a business traveler, I always unlock my mobile phone so I can use local SIM cards when abroad. Every traveler knows a local SIM card means much lower connection charges (often 70-85% off). As a Canadian that frequently jumps over the border to the US, I love the US Roaming service from a company called Roam Mobility . The way you use their service is to pop-in their SIM card into your unlocked smartphone and load their APN settings.

iPad mini has the most responsive touch screen
Agawi conducted a touch screen comparative test to determine with device's screen was the most responsive and the big winner is the Apple iPad mini at 75 milliseconds. The next best device is the iPad (4th generation) at 81 milliseconds. The third best device is the NVIDIA shield at 92 milliseconds. Why is responsiveness important, it is the speed at which the device reacts to your masterful commands and makes handwriting on a tablet much more usable. <img src="https://ekiledjian2.
MEMS camera first comes to OPPO not Nexus 5
We heard a bunch of rumors over the last couple of days that the next Nexus smartphone may contain a DigitalOptics made MEMS camera. Everyone was excited because the new tech MEMS camera offers incredibly fast auto-focus and automatically takes pictures at different focal lengths (like Lytro) automatically allowing you to chose the focus point after having taken the picture. Now a DigitalOptics press release shatters our hopes and confirms that OPPO will be the exclusive launch partner for the MEMS camera and that the launch smartphone will be released sometime in the future.
New iPads will be announced October 22
The connected reporters at AllThingsD are now reporting that Apple will launch the next generation of iPads at a [yet unannounced] media event on October 22. The focal point of the gathering will the latest updates to the company’s iPad line, but new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks will likely get some stage time as well, I’m told." There have been a handful of leaks and everything indicates that the design of the next iPad will more closely resemble that of the iPad mini.
Review of the Bose QuietComfort QC20 / QC20i
Anytime I talk about active noise cancelling headphones, people imagine large over the ear products like the AKG 495NC or the Bose QuietComfort QC15. These work well but are difficult to carry and sometimes uncomfortable. Bose has recently released the QuietComfort QC 20 (for Blackberry, Android or Windows Phone) with a single control button or the QuietComfort QC 20i (for IOS devices) with 3 control buttons. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="357"] Bose QC20 for Blackberry, Android or Windows Phone [/caption] What really makes this product stand out is the incredible noise cancellation capabilities.

Nexus 5 will start at $299
It seems every new day brings another Nexus 5 (or Nexus 4 2013 edition) leak. At this point, we believe we have a fairly good view of the amazing hardware specs. The latest rumor is insinuating that Google will sell this powerhouse device at the same price as last year's model. PhoneArena has received information from an unamed source that the 16 GB Pure Google Experience Nexus 5 phone with a 2,300 mAh battery will be sold for $299 (without subsidy).
Thunderspace relaxation iPhone app free today
We can all use a couple of minutes of relaxation and nothing feels better than a free app to help you relax. The publisher of the app describes it as: "Thunderspace utilizes stereoscopic 3D audio & realistic lightning flashes to create a thunderstorm around you." This basically means they recorded the sound of real thunderstorms using real surround sound 3D technology and then sync your devices flash to light up at just the right time. You basically use this app with headphones and lie down with the flash in back of your head but close by (so you can "
National Geographic uses iPhone 5s photos
National Geographic recently published a beautiful photo essay about Scotland using only the camera on Apple's iPhone 5s. Photographer Jim Richardson has a great quote: "With intense use (I’ve made about 4,000 pictures in the last four days) I’ve discovered that the iPhone 5S is a very capable camera. The color and exposures are amazingly good, the HDR exposure feature does a stunningly good job in touch situations, the panorama feature is nothing short of amazing—seeing a panorama sweeping across the screen in real time is just intoxicating.
