How I write my blog entries more efficiently

A question I receive once in a while is what application I use to write my blog posts. Most people believe I must be using Microsoft Word or Google Docs but this couldn’t be further from the truth. What am I looking for? When writing a blog post, I want a simple clean work environment with the fewest number of distractions possible. Additionally I want a tool where I can prepare my entire post and then copy and paste it into my CMS.

Site will be down because of Sandy

My hosting provider, Squarespace, just notified its customers that their primary data center in New York will be shutting down sometime today. There isn't much I can do, my site will go down until they can restore service. I'm surprised they don't have geo-diversity and that will make an excellent topic for a future post. I will be available by twitter for questions or issues @ekiledjian My thoughts and prayers are with the people affected by Sandy. I will tweet when my site comes back.

How to travel light with only a carry-on

Travelling is usually an amazing adventure full of wonderful memories and experiences you will cherish for life. Only one thing stands in the way of your trip: air travel. Airlines seem to be charging more for less and nothing seems to exemplify this better than checked in luggage fees. Many airlines now charge fees from the first check-in bag. Add to that the fact that your luggage gets treated like a football, subject to theft by shady baggage handlers, usually takes 20-30 minutes to find its way on the conveyor belt and sometimes sent to the wrong destination.
